fast friends

"Fast Friends"
mixed media

Yesterday, I finally got some time in my studio.  It's been a crazy few months.  I'm not complaining at all.  But, I've only been able to dash in and dash out, of my studio lately.  I was a little shocked when I opened the door to this:

Now that Danny is in Atlanta full-time, I've had to split my time up between the island and the big city.  It's been an adjustment, but I'm getting accustomed to it.  I'm convinced that the contrast between the two places is good for my psychi.  Here's a shot of my Atlanta studio...see the difference?

This painting was started in Atlanta and finished on the island.  It's watery acrylic and collage.  Here's the video of it.  It features Hector the french bulldog, who lives in Atlanta.

Off to clean the island studio now. Where are those magical cleaning elves when you need them?

Love,
Wyanne

A friend told me about your classes and can't wait to sign up for one. I did have a question.. I watched a couple of your youtube videos using resin. Have you used self-leveling gel? It leaves a very glassy finish as well. Just wondering if you've used both and if you think the resin is better?
I've already told another friend about your classes and hope she signs up soon, too.
Blessings. Ruth

I have used self leveling gel. Resin is more of a finish or protective varnish, and self leveling gel is a medium that should not be used as a final varnish. I do use my Resin in layers sometimes, and it provides a thicker glass like layer. In my experience with self leveling gel it is unable to be used in thick layers without fogging and/or pitting. You would need 50+ layers of self leveling gel to obtain the same thickness as resin. They both are great too work with. Self leveling gel is easier and doesn't require all the strict safety and health precautions. Hope that helps some. Love, Wyanne

Hi Wyanne. I clicked. I keep returning to your page. Your paintings have sparked something in me. I haven't been nurturing the creative side in me for a long time now, but now I'm seeing art everywhere. I'm a 32 year old mom from Denmark on maternity leave with my second child.
