Creative Every Day Challenge Day 30

These earrings were finished on the last day of the Creative Every Day challenge. They are part of the Reserve Art Event Dec. 7th. The earrings are sterling with bezel set garnets, art clay textured links and Swarovski crystal glass pearls.

I really enjoyed the Creative Every Day challenge. Thank you so much to Leah for hosting it. I look forward to participating in the next challenge. It was really good to push myself and meet new goals. Sometimes we get too comfortable in our safe place. :)

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 29

When I finished with the painting for the book yesterday, I wanted to do a special, different piece for my Reserve Art Event. I had a little book that I had purchased a while back. It's 4" x 4" and has a plain manila cover and a few pages...it's cute because it ties up with a ribbon. I've had it forever and finally decided to do something with it. I wanted to make an Angel book.

When I got to the studio this morning, I was trying to think about the message that I wanted to get across to the reader. After watching Project Runway last night, Wine Husband was in dismay about how skinny models are...you gotta love this man! We talked about a woman's self image, and how we could keep our daughter's positive. I had no idea that this would spill over into my little book. The book became much more personal to me than I had ever intended. While the process was happening, I was in tears from what was spilling out. I knew that I couldn't ever part with it, and it had to be a gift for my daughter. Here are the pages:

We Dream of a world where you know

you are always beautiful

every little part of you is unique...you are special

there is no one like you...Always love you

I do, and always will.

I added this personalized page in the back for her.
This was a really special piece for me that I hope she'll treasure. Being adopted, and losing my adopted mom at a young age...I realize now, how I don't have things like this, that she left behind. It has really created a void over the years, and I don't want that to happen to my little girl. I'm so happy I thought of it for Logan.

I'm considering still doing a limited edition version of the book for the Reserve Art Event. The cover would be original, and the inside pages would be giclees of the above images. The back would be left for you to personalize yourself. I'm still thinking about it, and what it would involve...so if you think you might be interested...let me know.Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 28

Today I finished the painting for the book tentatively entitled, "37 days". I was randomly given an essay from the book called, "Roll On the Floor" to create art for. The painting is my interpretation of the essay. You can read the essay here on the author's blog. 37days Roll on the Floor. I think you really have to read the essay to understand my painting. But, here's a little about my visual and emotional interpretation.

The angel is teaching the girl. I chose an angel because they appear in my work often, and because I wanted to show that every teacher, no matter how high the authority can still learn. The angel is teaching from the book to the girls mind. The girl is interrupting the the session, showing her a heart, a reminder of sorts to teach from the other's person's perspective.

On the dresses, I wrote excerpts from the essay. "We All Make Meaning In Different Ways." And, "Go Beneath Language to communicate."

The Black Lab is part of the author's essay. She relates teaching others to a reality TV show about a black lab learning tricks. The other dog is learning from him. I also put the Black lab rolling over in for humor. A reminder to not take ourselves too seriously.

I hope they like it. There is a chance that it won't be picked for the book. But, I enjoyed working on it and learned a lot. I'd love to hear every one's comments!Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge - All the Missed Days

Sorry that I haven't been posting my Creative Every Day Challenge photos. We went to Atlanta to finish packing up our old house, and to have Thanksgiving with family. So for days, my creativity has been limited to deciding what to keep, what to throw away and what to garage sale. That has been a challenge in itself. In the midst of all of this, I get an email that I am one of the selected artists for a new book tentatively entitled, 37 Days. I have until Nov. 30th to submit my artwork based on the essay randomly chosen for me. So, while I was working on the old house, I daydreamed and planned the painting. Today, I finally got the chance to start on it. Yeah! Painting again....making art...it fulfills me like nothing else. Anyway...here is the painting in progress.

If you want to read the essay that the artwork is based on, you can go to it by clicking here. The title is "Roll On the Floor". I'll hopefully finish it up tomorrow.

Meanwhile, I'm also working on the special Reserve Art Event, Dec. 7th. I have some new fresh paintings and jewelry for it. It's Dec. 7th at 7pm. I hope you'll join me.Pin It

Announcing....

Ta Da! This is it! I've wanted to do this for a really long time. It might not seem like anything special to you...but it is to me. I'm moving away from Ebay...my bread and butter for 10 years. Very scary....but oh...so exciting. I feel like I'm stepping into Big Girl Shoes.

The studio and gallery are about to open in a few weeks to the public. Yes...it's official (dancing around with glee).

But, I wanted to do something SPECIAL for my loyal longtime ONLINE customers. So, I created this Reserve Art Event. This is your chance to see and purchase the NEW work before it's shown here in the gallery/studio. Sorry, I'm not taking any reservations on the work. I know lots of you have asked to purchase it already. It's only fair...you know.

This is the NEWEST, latest, Freshest Work...all ORIGINALS, that I have been coveting because I love them so much.

You might want an invitation/reminder sent to you by email, so please be sure to leave me your email. I promise you won't be disappointed.

It's the best of the best...my soul, my art. Please join me.

Love to all,
Wyanne

PS. I'm off to Atlanta. I will try to post over the holidays but I'm packing up my old house up there, and enjoying Turkey Day with Wine Husband's family. Oh...I can't wait. I miss them so much.Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 19

For my Creative Every Day post today, I finished a commission painting for Sharon. She has a special group of friends that meet up once a week and offer each other positive affirmations, good thoughts and friendship. I wish I had a group of friends like that! How wonderful! This painting is about them and their connection to each other and the universe. Oh...and they all love kitties!

I hope she likes it!Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge 17 & 18

or How I spent my weekend.....

Artwork all packed off and ready to go to their new homes. This is the first haul that the postman took away this morning. I've got a few more left to get out this afternoon.

I feel very blessed. But, I always wonder what happens to it when the recipient gets the package. Do they hang it...do they give it away...
I wish I could see pictures of the work on display hanging lovingly in some one's home.

Send me pictures...please.

I'm working on a big announcement coming later today. Stay tuned.Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge 16

I'm really late on my Creative Every Day posts. I hope you'll forgive me and enjoy this beautiful eye candy! I can't take credit for this spectactular creation. The artist is Kelly Warren of Happy Shack Designs. Her work is stunning!

I had the chance to meet Kelly for lunch on Friday. She made the drive here to the Island to pick up her very generous, considerate, order of my artwork.

She is a beautiful person inside and out. A smile that lights up the room. She was a sight for sore eyes...me with a really bad cold. Anyway...she creates GORGEOUS jewelry, has two CUTE 4 year old twins, works a full time job, and maintains several websites. She seems to manage it with such grace...I am in awe. Me...I'm just a mess all the time....a creative mess, mind you...but still a mess. Drop over to her site and show her some love!Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Days 14&15

I've had to put my current creations on hold for the past couple of days as I got caught up with the "business" side of my art. Yesterday, was spent printing giclee prints to fulfill orders. This is a shot of my desk right now.

After I print the giclee, I hand embellish it with gold metallic ink, and sometimes glitter, colored pencils, pastels, seashells and rhinestones. These are things I tend to use in my original paintings, so I try to make it as similar to the original painting as possible.

However, this takes a lot of time. This is all that I've been doing for a day and a half.

Now I'm off to the frame shop to pick up mats. I have over 50 unanswered important emails in my box, commissioned paintings, and tons of new ideas...but these have to wait until all the orders get shipped tomorrow. I'm hoping to be caught up again by Saturday to work on some new paintings and jewelry. And to make things worse...I've got a cold. Going home early to get some rest and TLC.Pin It

Last Day for the Ebay Sale & A Free Gift

This is the Last Day for the Ebay Sale. It ends tomorrow. It's the last one...as I move to ETSY in January.

If you place an order between now and when the Sale ends tomorrow, you'll get a FREE limited edition Gocco print by me...of course! Any size order...you'll get the Free Print.

If you've already placed an order in the last 48 hours, I'll automatically send you a print, as well. It's only fair. But, if you forgot something and want to make another purchase in the eBay store, I'll send you another, different, Gocco print too! It's a surprise! Cool, huh?

CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE EBAY STORE!

Here's a little about the Gocco print, and what makes it so special. Gocco is a Japanese hand printer similar to silk screening. The print above is titled, "Believe". It is printed on vintage torn book pages, that are naturally aged and browning. The print itself, is apx. 6" x 4". It is mounted with black photo squares on a sheet of black cardstock measuring 8-1/2" x 11". Each print is signed, titled, and numbered in pencil below the print. Because of the hand printing process, and the different book pages used, each print is unique, and varies slightly. The text shows in different places, etc.

So, have fun, knock out some holiday shopping and get a FREE gift for yourself.

Creative Every Day Challenge 13

Today was again to busy with other life responsibilities to get much work done in the studio. I did manage to finish two owls today. They are both pendants made from fine silver metal clay. I decided that I didn't like then with the dark patina all over. So, I polished them again so the recessed areas stayed dark. I also left the branch of the one owl darkened with patina. They are really cute and the pictures don't seem to do them much justice. These are part of the December debut show.

One more day left on the eBay sale. Everything is 20-50% off. Click here to go shopping now.

Creative Every Day Challenge 12

Today, was a little busy. I decided to use what little creative time that I had to make jewelry. Some people find it odd that I flip flop back and forth between jewelry and painting...and sometimes other ventures. :) But, for me it's just the right thing to do. Sometimes the painting can be draining, pulling at my emotions and releasing it onto paper or canvas. Jewelry making is a little break from the emotional, and one more of technicality and practicability. So, today I worked on my little owls that were made from the Precious Metal Clay (PMC). When I made these the other day, I had no idea that they would end up on branches. The branches were made a long time ago also using precious metal clay over an actual twig. The twig burns out in the kiln leaving just the silver metal shape. The twigs were part of a project that fell apart in the tumbler and discarded. I stumbled upon these broken pieces when I tumbled the little owls. They fit perfectly together. I love when things like that happen. So, I soldered them together. I've put patina on the owls to darken them with Liver of Sulfur. I'm not sure how I like it. I couldn't get a good picture for you because it was late in the day. I'll look at them tomorrow in better light and make a decision. Here's a couple more pictures.

They are very small measuring about 1/2" tall. They have a tube soldered on the back for hanging. I think they're pretty fun!

I also hung my new handmade sign in my front door of the studio. I promised a picture, so here it is. Sorry, it's little. It's from my newsletter. I forgot the larger size is at the computer at the studio.

I made an announcement to my newsletter customers today that I'm planning on closing my eBay store and moving entirely to ETSY the first of the year. But all the giclee prints and originals are now on sale for one more day at eBay. Here's a link to the store. Wyanne's Ebay Store.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I really appreciate all your comments that you left for me. XoxoxoxoXPin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 11

I finished this painting today. Oh...how I am loving my work again! This is my "Treasure Angel". She is about accepting yourself as the treasure that you are always searching for. She is about loving yourself and letting yourself be loved. These messages are handwritten throughout the painting.

"You are the treasure. Give your heart. Believe in you"

"It's okay to let go."

"I love you."

"You are loved."

The butterfly is taking the ribbon out of her hair. The ribbon is painted but loops through the "I love you" note and becomes actually silk ribbon.

Here are some details of the painting. You can click on them, or the one above and see them larger. You'll have to use your back button to get back here.

I decided to make another challenge for myself personally. One to finally get me through my fears of creating, my new studio, living in a new place, being accepted, etc. And that is to have a show in 1 month to debut my work in the new studio. I've been putting it off for a long time, with lots of excuses, but mostly fears. So, I'm going to be creating like a mad woman for the next few weeks. So, in honor of this challenge...I framed and hung the "Treasure Angel" as a beginning. Here's how she looks now on display.

So, that's one small step. Then, I also made a sign to hang in the window of my door. That was a huge step for me. It's been so easy for me to "hide" upstairs in my studio, and only have visitors of the mailman and UPS. So...now it's official, people will be able to find me.

So, tomorrow I promise to hang it. I'll even take pictures for you. I'm also hanging the "Believe Angel" from day 10, at the foot of the staircase. It's a really scary time for me. But, I know I can do it. Thank you for all your love and support through the comments you leave for me. I really, really appreciate all your support.Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 10

I finished my "Believe Angel" today. I'm really pleased with the way that she turned out. It's been a long road to free myself, and let myself go creatively...and make something that was so heartfelt and emotional. I don't know if I could ever part with her.

I once took a Creativity Workshop with Stewart Cubley, who co-authored the book Life Paint and Passion, Reclaiming the Magic of Spontaneous Expression. He asked me, if I didn't have to paint to make a living, what would I paint for myself...just for me. I honestly haven't been able to answer that question for 5-1/2 years. I can now answer it. What a breakthrough this has been for me. It's amazing what happens when you stand in your power. I decided that she will be the first thing that I see when I open my studio door in the morning, and leave at night.

A reminder....to believe in myself, my talent and trust the Universe.

Here are some detail shots of the painting. You can click any of these, or the one above to see the painting larger.

Creative Every Day Challenge Days 8 & 9

The Universe sent me a wake up call yesterday, which was so traumatic that I wasn't sure how I would survive. It was an emotional, gut wrenching day for me personally.. But, I got through it with the help of my good friend, and fellow artist, Rebecca. Sometimes, I guess you just need those wake up calls to put you back on track. Today, after a good night sleep I went to the studio and was finally able to create like I haven't done in a very long time. After having my studio in my home for so many years, I got a little stagnant and comfortable. I set an intention to have the studio of my dreams...and it came to be...but it also came with a price tag. So, for months I haven't been able to get past the worry of the $$$ each month, to truly create. It has been so bad that it has physically made me ill at times. I've also had a difficult time unpacking boxes, getting organized and decorating the studio. My dear friend, Rebecca pointed out to me how I hadn't done those things, because of a fear in the back of my mind, that I might lose the studio. She was right. So, today I unpacked a little bit, organized a little more, and just started painting. But, I decided to paint like my life depended on it. I decided to paint like I would never get a chance to paint again. And, instead of worrying about every little thing...I let go...I let the Universe take over. And it worked....
I started working on 5 canvas at once. Laying in backgrounds, and layering collage elements. I let the paintings show me where they wanted to go, instead of vice versa. Eventually, one canvas started developing more than the others and the others were put away. She still isn't finished yet. But, I wanted you to see the process.

She is my "Believe Angel". She's all about trusting yourself, believing in yourself. Something I needed to do again. In the top right corner it says, " You have everything you need. It was given to you long ago. Use it, like today is your last day. Believe in you."Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 7

Today was a much better day. I totally submersed myself into my artwork today. I don't have any finished pieces to show you, but I'll tell you a little bit about the process. I have been working on some new jewelry designs that incorporate precious metal clay, also known as art clay or PMC. The clay is fired in the kiln and becomes 99.9% pure silver...sterling silver is 92.5%. The clay has always made me a little nervous. I guess it's the cost, and the fact that it can dry out really quickly and mess things up. But, today I put all my fears aside. I rolled it out between 2 sets of playing cards for a even thickness. After it was rolled out, I textured it with a brass floral texture plate. Then I used cutters to cut the clay just like when you make cookies. I separated all the cut pieces to dry.
I even managed to make a few owls with the extra clay. After the pieces were dry, I sanded the edges with a fine sandpaper. Then they went into the kiln to be fired. They came out great and I can't wait to use them tomorrow! Yeah! Happy Art Day!Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 6

Today was a strange day. Must have something to do with a moon phase, because everything just seemed off. Including me, especially. I ended up not having much time in the studio today because life got in the way. At the end of the day, determined to work on my art...I managed to sketch out an owl that I'm interested in using in jewelry. So, I grabbed some sterling and began sawing. He didn't turn out too bad, but the silver sheet metal was too thin, and I've got to work on the design a little more. Frustrated that it didn't work out, I left the studio early. On the way home, I noticed that the light was just gorgeous over the marsh...and I did stop and shoot some photographs. I captured this one. I'm pretty happy with the colors, but I wish I had of paid more attention to composition. Again...everything was just a little off today. I'll try again tomorrow.

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 5

Today for the challenge, I'm posting a commissioned painting that I just finished. It is acrylic on canvas with collage elements. It has vintage photos, charms, pressed botanical flowers and leaves, and vintage rhinestones...to name a few. It is titled "Star-light, Star-bright" and it's for Dawn in the UK. For more information of commissioned, custom paintings, you can check out my website www.wyanne.com. With the holidays approaching, I'm only taking orders through November 15th. Anyway...I hope you like the painting.Pin It

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 4

Today, "Wine Husband" begged me not to go to the studio. He told me that even God took a day off. Of course, that wouldn't phase this artist...who doesn't consider her art, as work. But, he had to pull the unfair advantage of staging this in front of the kids. So, I was forced to stay home...take a day off. What's a crazy artist to do? Well, luckily I had brought my good camera home with me. So, I shot photos. Since we live by the beach now, we have quite a collection of shells. My favorites are the ones that look like they are hundreds of years old. They are worn and broken but the tides have soften all their jagged edges. For the "Creative Every Day Challenge" today...I photographed my favorite shell. I've been staring at it for months wondering how I could do something artistic with it's beauty. And finally...today I did.

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 2 & 3

For the Creative Every Day Challenge today...it will be a double posting for Day 2 and 3. For the second day, I spent a tiny amount of time on a new drawing for the Gocco printer. The rest of the time was spent at the Hair Salon recreating me. I got a new "do" and awesome color from Tracey at Magna's Salon...plus some great new Aveda lipstick...but I digress....

Anyway, after having so much fun with the success of finally using the Gocco printer on Day 1. I decided to try a new drawing in reverse. So, what would be normally the line drawing in black, it is white instead. I took apart an old book, and printed on the pages. I really liked the way the text showed through on some of the white areas, and the aging brown of the pages. I was able to make an edition of 60 prints. Since the Gocco is handprinted through the mesh screen, each comes out unique with it's own quirky characteristics. I took the finished prints and mounted them with black photo corners on black cardstock. Each is signed, titled, and numbered. I also started a new journal for each of the new prints that I do...a portfolio of sorts....just for me. :)

Here's how the finished print looks....They are also available in my Etsy store. Please let me know how you like them.

Creative Every Day Challenge Day 1

Even though it's Day 2 of the Creative Every Day Challenge, I'm going to be posting a day behind. Sorry about that. This is my project from Day 1. I decided to break out my Gocco printer and FINALLY learn how to work it. The instructions that came with it are a little challenging, but I managed to get it working! If you don't know about a Gocco printer...it's really cool. The printer is from Japan. It is a home printing system similar to silk screening. Here's a picture of my Gocco.

The image was from a doodle drawing that I had made with markers. I scanned the original and printed it on my laser printer. The Gocco needs carbon to make the screen. You can use a laser printer or a photocopy from a copier with toner. I then took the laser copy and put it in the gocco to make the screen. It uses two flash bulbs, and a special mesh screen. The bulbs produce a flash that somehow magically puts your image onto the screen for printing. To my surprise, it worked. I then added some gold ink to the screen and was able to begin printing. The prints came out beautiful on the first try. Unfortunately, I had to leave to pick up Luke from school. after only printing 2. I left everything and made a mad dash out the door. When I returned about a half hour later...the ink had begun to dry in the screen and I was unable to get another good print. I attempted to clean the screen, but I don't think it worked so well. Tomorrow, I'll get everything together and reshoot a screen again. If I have the paper already cut and easy to load in, then I should be able to do multiple prints. But, still not too bad for a first try.Pin It

Creative Every Day

Today is the start of my new daily challenge through Creative Every Day, and it's the start of some new beginnings and changes in my life. I've been selling my artwork on the Internet now for 10 years. I had two physical art galleries in Atlanta in the late 90's that were struggling. In an effort to survive, I found eBay. We began selling more art through eBay than through the art galleries. So, eventually I closed the galleries and began promoting my work exclusively online. I learned quickly what formulas worked, and how to excel. But, throughout the process I felt like something was missing. I never had the time to fully take my art to a new level because I was constantly creating for the "quick" online sale. I dabbled in some new mediums like porcelain hand sculpting, and spent several years studying metalsmithing on the side. It was challenging to work from home in a tiny sunroom studio, and fully feed my creativity. Last June, we moved to Fernandina Beach, and I was blessed with finding the studio of my dreams. I moved in and even though I have the space to create in all my mediums...the day to day business of making $$$ to pay for everything, has overshadowed expanding my creativity to the new levels that I had hoped for. So, after I long talk with "Wine Husband", aka my special earth angel....he has convinced me to use the next three months to take my art to the next level. I'm going to finish my commission paintings, shipments, prints, and other obligations up in the next 2 weeks. Then take the rest of the time to create the new work that I've been dreaming years about. My studio rent and utilities will be taken care of, and I just need to get my %&*# together and make my art. Today, is the first day of that adventure. How good it feels..........Pin It
