interview with the dabbling mum

It's been a crazy few days. I'm trying to get in the groove after a long weekend. I haven't had much time to paint, but I have made a lot of jewelry. The kids and I also took in Indiana Jones, went to a neighborhood cookout, did some shopping and enjoyed the beach. So now, it's back to work. I'll put up new photos of the jewelry soon. So, while I get my act together...enjoy this interview that I did with The Dabbling Mum magazine.

I spent the night with Yupo last night...

You know...I should have known something was up when Yupo arrived. He was different...heavyweight...slick...and synthetic. I was immediately put off...and forgot about him. He just wasn't right for me. But, throughout the days...he kept calling me. He told me we'd have a really good time...that I needed some adventure in my life. I told him that I just wasn't ready. But, last night, I gave in. We got off to a bad start. His slick nature...just rubbed me the wrong way. Half way through the evening...I tossed him aside and was convinced I'd just get a good night's sleep. A couple of hours later...there he was...begging me to give him a second chance. He told me he'd take me to new heights. And I gave in to his slick, superficial ways. He took some time to get used to...but I soon realized that he was right. He took me places I've never been before...all with careless abandon and unexpected surprises along the way. It was quite an adventure and I'm finding myself yearning for more...

Yupo - Imported from Japan, Yupo is an all new synthetic paper that has a velvety smooth surface that takes pen and ink, pencil and marker. As a watercolor paper it has the special advantage of being non-absorbent so colors sit on top of its surface. This feature makes the color much more brilliant than with standard watercolor papers and allows you to completely wipe off unwanted sections of your painting.

So...you might want to make a date with Yupo and take a ride on the wild side.

Love,
Wyanne

PS. Yes, the painting above is on Yupo paper. It's a huge 20" x 26" and on eBay now. It's called, "Still Waiting".Pin It

it's getting late....

no time...to say hello...goodbye....I've gotta run home. It's American Idol night, and the kids and I have a party planned. Pizza, couch, sweet ice tea, and Cookie Dough ice cream...and we are set to see David Cook. Well, I'm set on David Cook...the younger set prefers the "other David".

Anyway...this is a new painting on Etsy called...."It's Getting Late". I'm super thrilled with how it came out.

And I also wanted to let you know about some other cool new stuff over in my Etsy store. I now have beeswax giclee prints on canvas! They are really beautiful and look just like an original. Since they are finished with beeswax...they smell wonderful too! And best of all...they are ready to hang. Here's one hanging in my studio now...

And I also have new postcards. I put together a set of eight postcards with four of my most popular paintings. They come with envelopes...or you could easily put them in a frame.

So, that's it for now. Tomorrow, I will show you photos and video of my studio. It's open to the public now, and Wine Husband made it gorgeous.

enjoy your night...I'm painting and Idoling.

expect...

I've been busy. Wine Husband has left to go back to Atlanta for two more weeks. The kids and I had a lot of fun this past weekend running around the "big" city of Jacksonville, FL. Barnes and Noble was our best stop, as we don't have a good bookstore (imho...of course) on the Island. But, amongst all the running around, I found lots of time to paint...and make jewelry (gasp). I feel like it's been ages since I've been able to work on my jewelry. Now, I'm not complaining...you guys are keeping me really busy painting...but you see...jewelry making feeds my soul too.

I finished my painting last night...and thought how much I would like to make a necklace. And then this inner voice tells me, "No...you can't do that...you'll stay up too late and not be able to get up in the morning". So, I made up my mind at the moment, that it wouldn't exhaust me and things would still go smoothly in the household. So, I started the piece. Then during the creation, other little voices would tell me, "This isn't going to work...you don't have the right beads or components...you better stop right now." I kept going. Reminding myself that the Universe had given me everything I need to make this necklace. I already had everything I needed...translation...I didn't need to buy another supply to create it. And it worked. The necklace is gorgeous...better than I had planned.

And to make everything even better...I got up early...felt refreshed....walked on the beach....filmed the last of my new video....got the kids to school on time....had enough time to pull myself together with nice clothes and makeup...a good hair day...a fresh baked healthy muffin, finished a new video, listed new things on ebay and etsy...updated the blog, and so much more because the day isn't over yet.

And you know why....because I changed my mind. I expected everything to go along smoothly and great...AND IT DID!!!!

So, expect. Magical things can happen.

The new video is below. And be sure to check out the new stuff of etsy and ebay.

Love...lots of it,

Wyanne

trust

I just finished this piece. It's called "Trust". I personally think that it's something that we all need to do a little bit more of these days. Whether it's trusting ourselves, each other, our talents, our spouses, the Universe...we just all need to do more of it.

Do you know how much good, positive energy is generated when you trust? Boatloads and boatloads. I believe that energy swirls around you and bounces off others and comes back to you in so many positive ways.

I know it is hard to trust, be positive and all when there is so many depressing things going on around us. I have a hard time at this myself. I find myself looking at the news where 98% of it is negative in some way. I get effected by negative, complaining people around me. And it just zaps my positive energy. I won't say it makes my energy negative, but it certainly hurts it a little.

So, if we can just all have a bit of an attitude adjustment and trust in ourselves and each other... Lots of good energy will start flowing, and things will get better all around us. I just know they will.

I've really been thinking a lot this week about "Thoughts becoming things". You know, I've been having a hard time getting around to a few things lately that I needed to do. I kept telling myself that I didn't have time. I told others that I didn't have the time either. So, what kept happening...no matter how much I wanted to do certain things, I never had the time. I kept manifesting lack of time. So, I decided to trust that all will get done, and finally get around to those things that I've been wanting to do. I trusted and made the time. And you know what...everything did fall into place. Everything did get done. And I got to do some things that I've missed, and catch up on some things that I'd been putting off. I made new jewelry, experimented with resin, I updated my website, and opened commission painting jobs back up. And you know what...it feels really good. I simply trusted that I could do it all without stress...and that's exactly what happened. I trusted, sent out those good feelings, and got lots of good stuff back in return. Try it...trust a little...no actually...Trust a HUGE, Gigantic, Enormous Amount.

tag...you're it....

I've always been a little slow at that game...and now as an online game...I'm still falling behind. Some things never change, I guess....

You see...Kelly of Happy Shack Designs tagged me on May 1st. Of course... I didn't find out about it until the 3rd...and now here it is the 12th and I'm finally getting around to playing.

Slow...I told ya....

Anyway...the rules of the game are
  • 1. Link back to the person that tagged you.
  • 2. Post these rules on your blog.
  • 3. Share six unimportant things about yourself.
  • 4. Tag six people at the end of your entry.
So, here goes..........six things you could probably care less about...but maybe might find a tad interesting.

1. I once was a hot, roller disco queen...oops...I mean Diva.
Yep...in high school, I spent every waking non-school hour at the roller rink. I competed in couples and singles. That's me being swung around...

And I have trophies too..

2. I took 16 years of ballet, tap and jazz dancing. And I was really bad at it...kinda like a "Little Miss Sunshine". But, then I found roller skating and got my groove back.

3. I have a deep dislike for white noise. I have a hard time even with the humming of a bathroom fan.

4. I love the smell of vinegar...strange...I know... You wanted totally random and unknown.

5. I knew that wine husband was the guy I was supposed to marry from the 1st time I saw him. I even told a co-worker that when he walked by one day, even before I had talked to him. She didn't believe me though. Good, thing he was feeling it too. Here we are 20 years later....

6. I have extremely ticklish feet, and can't stand for anyone to touch them.

So, there you go...TMI....I know. I know... but I had to play. So, now I have to tag six people. Okay, here goes...hopefully they haven't been tagged before...told you I'm a bit slow at this game.

Happy Mom Day!

Hi Everyone!
I hope you are all having a wonderful Mom day! I'm certainly enjoying mine. Wine Husband came home late last night, instead of late tonight...so that was a nice surprise.
(Oh...and for those of you who don't know why I call him that...it's because he's considered a guru of sorts in the wine industry.) He brought back lots of goodies from Atlanta for me, that I had been missing.

My son is feeling better...but still not 100% well. I have managed to dodge the cooties still, with lots of vitamins. Miss Logan woke me up early with lots of handmade Mother's Day gifts...including the innovative masterful drawing on a old toilet paper roll. How very green of her!

Mother's Day weekend also brought a little 4 1/2 pound misfit into our lives. He looks to be part chihuahua, dachshund and terrier. He's a really sweet boy with chocolate co
loring. I think we are going to name him Rolo. Yes, after one of my favorite candies. But, he's trying on other names as well. I tried to take his picture...but he's convinced I'll steal his spirit with the camera. Here's the best one:

So, that's about it for now. I finished "City Girl"and put her up on eBay. Guess I was a little homesick for Atlanta...but not so much now that my baby is back home.....

Going home to take the rest of the day off. Kelly of Happy Shack Designs tagged me the other day...and I promise to answer all those questions tomorrow.

Happy Mom Day!

a cootie kind of day

Today was a short day. I had to take my 14 yr old to the doctor this morning. He's been home sick for a couple of days, and it wasn't getting any better. So, after spending the morning at the doctor and pharmacy...I tried to come in and get a little work done in the studio. But, he needs to go home and I feel like I caught some cooties from the doctor's office. I'm about as useful as a trap door in a canoe.

I didn't have the energy to list this painting at eBay...so I put her up at Etsy. I hope I'm back to blossoming tomorrow.

I'll be a good girl tonight....

and I promise not to stay up late. But, last night I just couldn't help it. I started this painting, and just had to see if through. I love it so much.. It was just too much fun, and I am super pleased with the way it came out. Did, I tell you I love it!!! The idea came from one of Logan's school papers. She had to write a story about Little Bear and how he helped poor lost Emily home. It was too cute. With her permission, she allowed me to use it in the painting. Now...let me explain the reasoning...first, of all I'm totally addicted to kid's handwriting...and the second reason is because little Miss Logan has always had terrible handwriting. Her brain is going so super fast that she doesn't have time to be neat (don't know where she gets that from...) But, anyway...since I've used her work in the paintings, her writing has greatly improved. She was very much concerned after I used her writing in another painting, and had to check with her teacher to make sure it was okay. Mrs. P gave her blessing for the sake of art.

Anyway...I hope you enjoy it...just put it up at auction on Ebay. It's American Idol night and I'm going to enjoy it with the kids and go to bed early. I promise...well maybe not if I get another painting idea...ok, ok, I promise (fingers crossed behind my back).

while the cat's away...the mice will play...

Wine Husband left to go back to Atlanta for a week. As many of you know...I tend to "play" when he's gone. No...no...no...nothing like that.... Shame on you...

I paint and play and stay up to all hours of the night. I'm not allowed to do that when he's in town because he makes sure I take care of myself. Such a good guy. I have to take time off, go to bed at a reasonable hour, and eat all my veggies.

But, last night after kids were tucked away. I played around with this painting. It's on wood. The bird is a really cool image transfer process. You use gel medium...gloss works the best. I drew the bird lightly in pencil, then covered the entire area with gel medium. Then I took my paper with the image I wanted to transfer and laid it onto of the medium. I burnished it down for about 1-2 minutes. Then I took water and covered the paper entirely. After letting it soak in a little, I used my finger to start gently rubbing away the paper. The image is left on the wood. Too cool. I like the look of it because it looks collaged but without the bulk of an added paper. One part didn't transfer, and I got a distressed area in the neck area...but it was a Happy Mistake....I love those....

Also cool was the birds eye is the knot in the wood. Fun...fun...fun...playing all the time.

She's over at Etsy if you want to check it out. Now, I must go be a responsible adult and answer email and pack up shipments......But tonight I shall play again....

first love...you never forget

As promised...here is the new painting, "First Love". I did manage to make it into my studio to scan it for you early this morning. Then kids and I, braved the crowds with my great friend Kelly's family and enjoyed the shrimp festival. The art was incredible! Unfortunately, with the kids, we didn't get to see as much of the art as we would have liked. Kelly and I made a promise to each other, to see more of it next year without children. :) But, it was a blast...and I forgive everyone who blocked off my streets, set booths up in front of my studio, and made it impossible to get to work for 3 days. And did I mention... the funnel cakes were to die for....forget the shrimp....

Here's the video for the new painting. Enjoy!
Love
Wyanne

PS. It takes a long time to save the video and get it uploaded to YouTube. So while I was waiting, I played around and created this little painting. It's 4" x 4". I love the retro feel of it.

It's up at Etsy, if you want to check it out.

am I crazy....

I must be. I just started another blog. But, I just had to. I couldn't resist...well, maybe I could have...but there were cupcakes involved. So, there you have it...a new blog, a new responsibility...just what I needed....

But it's so cute!!!! It's called Art I Heart. Quite simply art and crafts that I come across that I love. So, I hope you'll check it out. I just posted my first post about a 19 year old artist, named Mandy. She makes the most adorable scarves, dolls, jewelry and more. She saving money for a trip to Europe. And her prices are really affordable. So check it out here:

I just finished a new painting that I hope to get up tomorrow on eBay. It's about First Love. My son just turned 14 a few days ago, and his poor heart is getting broken already. But, in this painting, the boy is giving his heart to the girl, and she's quite tickled about it. I like happy endings.

I am going to try to get to the studio to beeswax it in the morning. With the Shrimp Festival this weekend, I cannot get to my studio. There are lots of streets blocked off, and over 100,000 in attendance. So, I think if I can get up early enough I'll be able to beat the crowds and get into the studio. Hopefully, I'll be able to show it to you tomorrow.

Have a fun Saturday night!!! Don't forget check out Art I Heart!
