"Solitude"
mixed media on paper
18" x 24"
Wow....I can't believe it's Christmas Eve! Where has this year gone to? I just finished this new painting, "Solitude" and a new video and wanted to get it up for you. It would be cool to say that it's the last painting of 2010 but I'm really hoping to sneak in some painting time in the next few days.
This has been a year of learning for me. It seems in all areas of my life, I've learned. It's quite fascinating when I think about it. I've learned how to be a better partner, a better provider for my family, a better friend, a better teacher and a better artist. I could probably go on with a hundred other things....but instead, I'd like to focus on just one...a better artist.
I spent the first part of the year, learning resin on my own. I couldn't find anything out there on the subject. So, I had to teach myself. Boy, was it filled with lots of trials and tribulations. It was so complex, but the results were stunning. Definitely, a highlight of my year. But, I think the biggest highlight of the year was the chance to study with one of my favorite artists, Nicholas Simmons. Through the generosity of another artist who could not attend the workshop at the last minute, the workshop organizer, and one of my fellow Blue Door artists....I was able to go to the workshop gratis.
It was amazing. I highly recommend Nichola's workshops if you are interested in working with fluid acrylics on paper. In this painting, I took what I learned from the workshop, changed it up and came up with my own version.
I am really thankful to everyone who made that workshop happen for me.
I've decided to pay it forward.
I'm going to give away the chance to take one of my classes for free. It can be Art Play, Mixed Media with the Girls, Mixed Media Resin, Paint Free or Tough Love Creative or a new upcoming class (to be announced soon). (Sorry that I can't offer it to Tough Love Commercial coaching).
There will be two winners. One will be picked at random, and the other picked by my heart.
Here's what you need to do:

Leave a comment on this post (only this post). Tell me why you would like to win, and/or why you need to win. If you've taken a class with me before, tell me how it helped you. What did you learn, etc? If you've never taken a class with me before, tell me how you would like a new class to help you. I'm not fishing for compliments about myself, I really would like to know about YOU. So, please try to stay on the subject of you and your art.
I will pick two winners (one random, and one picked by the comment that pulled my heartstrings the most) on New Year's Eve, at midnight.
Now, here's the new video for you.
Remember to leave a comment on this post to win (see rules above).
Have a wonderful, magical holiday!
Love Always,
Wyanne
